Product details
The Fluorescein test contains ophthalmic strips impregnated with fluorescein solution for visualizing defects or aberrations of the corneal epithelium.
Fluoro-Touch tests are made of paper impregnated with fluorescein solution and are sterile packed.
They are diagnostic tests used in ophthalmology for:
- contact lens fitting;
- determining intraocular pressure (with an applanation tonometer);
- measuring tear film breakup time (TBUT);
- visualizing corneal epithelial defects.
Instructions for use:
1. Carefully open the sterile pouch containing the test, as follows: Hold the edges of the pouch between your thumb and index finger, pull carefully to expose the test inside, and remove the test by holding it by the square end.
2. Place a drop of distilled water, BSS, or local anesthetic on the colored tip: the dye passes into the drop, but the colored portion softens and bends, and the drop tends to fall. Hold the test with the tip pointing up so that the colored drop does not fall, even though the colored end is curved. Tears from the bottom of the conjunctival sac may be used, but the maneuver is irritating without anesthetic.
3. With the patient looking at the ceiling, pull the eyelid away and let the drop fall into the lower fornix. To distribute it evenly, the patient should blink a few times.
4. Perform the measurements according to specialist practice. IMPORTANT: This product is for external use only and must be used only by qualified personnel.
