Hemostatics
PRIMA collagen hemostatic sponges are 10 × 10 × 10 mm cubes or 80 × 50 × 1 mm sheets, 10 per pack, while Gelatamp (Roeko) are gelatin sponges with colloidal silver, 14 × 7 × 7 mm, in a blister of 20 or a box of 50. One Parasorb Cone (Resorba) contains 22.4 mg of equine collagen; the Genta version also contains 16 mg of gentamicin. For gingival hemostasis there is Alustat solution (10 g) and ViscoStat Clear gel, both with 25% aluminum chloride, including the 30 ml IndiSpense refill syringe. The sterile bone wax weighs 2 g, and the sterile hemostatic nasal tampons are 4.5, 8 or 10 cm long. The choice of material is up to the clinician; other supplies for the procedure are in surgery.
Frequently asked questions
How do the MatrixDerm, Matrixflex and Biocollagen membranes differ?
In the origin of the collagen and the format: MatrixDerm is made from porcine dermis and Matrixflex from porcine peritoneum, both in 15 × 20, 20 × 30 and 30 × 40 mm, while Biocollagen by BiOTECK is equine type I collagen, 25 × 25 × 0.2 mm.
What formats do MatrixOss granules come in?
In 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 ml vials or in 0.25 and 0.5 ml syringes, with a 0.25–1 mm particle size.
Which hemostatic sponges are available?
Resorbable PRIMA collagen sponges, as 10 mm cubes or 80 × 50 × 1 mm sheets, 10 per pack, and Gelatamp gelatin sponges with colloidal silver, 14 × 7 × 7 mm, in packs of 20 or 50.
