Polyglycolic acid suture 75cm, absorbable, 1/2 round needle, 30mm, USP 1, 12 pieces/box

Polyglycolic acid suture is intended for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in plastic and ophthalmic procedures, but not for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues.

Polyglycolic acid suture is a synthetic, sterile, braided multifilament absorbable surgical suture prepared from 100% glycolide homopolymers.

The suture is dyed with D&C Violet No. 2 (in accordance with the regulations of the US Code of Federal Regulations).

The suture is also available undyed.

For additional lubrication, smooth passage through tissue and easy knot tying, it is coated with a mixture of polycaprolactone and calcium stearate.

POLYGLYCOLIC ACID suture has been found to be non-antigenic and non-pyrogenic, and elicits only a mild tissue reaction during the absorption process.

The composition of the dyed version of the polyglycolic acid suture is 96.1% - 99.2% polyglycolic acid, 0.4% - 2.2% polycaprolactone, 0.2% - 1.5% calcium stearate and < 0.2% D&C Violet No. 2.

The composition of the undyed version of the polyglycolic acid suture is 96.3% - 99.4% polyglycolic acid, 0.4% - 2.2% polycaprolactone and 0.2% - 1.5% calcium stearate.

The product complies with the requirements established by the European Pharmacopoeia (E.P) for sterile synthetic braided absorbable sutures and by the United States Pharmacopeia (U.S. P) for absorbable (synthetic) surgical suture.

Approximate percentage of original strength remaining: 14 days - 82% 21 days - 56% 28 days - 20%

Absorption of polyglycolic acid suture is essentially complete in approximately 90 days.
