Frequently asked questions
What diameter do the Foley catheters have by CH size?
The CH (Charrière) size shows the outer diameter: one CH unit is a third of a millimeter. The Tiemann catheter description shows it exactly: CH 12 is 4 mm, CH 18 is 6 mm and CH 22 is 7.3 mm.
What does a 2-way catheter mean?
According to the Foley catheter description, the tube has two channels: one through which urine drains into the collection bag, and one with a valve connected to a balloon that is filled with sterile water so the catheter does not slip out of the bladder. On the Tiemann catheters in this category the balloon holds 30 ml.
