Hygienic and surgical hand disinfection
Many products state in their sheet the standard they were tested against: EN 1500 for hygienic handrub, EN 12791 for surgical hand disinfection and, for virucidal activity, EN 14476. The amount of product and rubbing time differ between products and between the two types of disinfection, so follow the manufacturer’s instructions exactly. For example, Alchosept and Hexy Gel are indicated for both hygienic and surgical disinfection.
How to choose

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between hygienic and surgical hand disinfection?
Surgical disinfection is done before procedures and requires more product and a longer rubbing time than hygienic disinfection. The test standards are EN 1500 (hygienic) and EN 12791 (surgical); the exact values are in each product sheet.
Do hands need rinsing after the disinfecting gel?
No. For the alcohol-based products in this category, such as Klinsept A, Alchosept or Hexy Gel, the manufacturer specifies application without rinsing. Disinfecting soaps, on the other hand, are used with water.
Do you have chlorhexidine soap?
Yes: Klintensiv CHDG Soap and Prestisept (GM2000), both with 4% chlorhexidine digluconate.
What sizes are available?
From 40 ml and 100 ml bottles up to 500 ml, 1 l, 1.2 l cartridges and 5 l canisters; many Klintensiv products are also sold by the case.
