Choosing a composite
Universal paste composites are used for anterior and posterior restorations; some systems have separate versions for the front and back teeth (Gradia Direct Anterior and Posterior, G-aenial Anterior and Posterior). Flowable composites are applied straight from the syringe, and the injectable versions (G-aenial Universal Injectable, EsFlow Plus Injectable) are also indicated by their manufacturers for direct aesthetic restorations. everX Flow is a fibre-reinforced bulk-fill composite for dentin replacement.
Shades follow the Vita shade guide (A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, B2 and so on), and some systems also offer opaque, enamel or bleach shades. Many composites are sold as a refill, meaning a spare syringe in a single shade, separate from the kit. You choose the shade as a variant on the product page.
Adhesive and cement
Universal adhesives such as Single Bond Universal can be used, according to the manufacturer, in total-etch, selective-etch or self-etch mode; One Coat Bond SL is a total-etch adhesive. For cementing indirect restorations, self-adhesive resin cements (RelyX U200, Maxcem Elite, G-CEM One) are applied without a separate adhesive, while Variolink Esthetic is used together with the adhesive system recommended by the manufacturer. For ceramics there is 9% hydrofluoric acid gel (I-HYDRO) and silane (Pentron).

What does “refill” mean for a composite?
It is a spare syringe (or a set of capsules) in a single shade, sold separately from the full kit. The shade is selected from the product variants.
What is the difference between a self-adhesive and an adhesive cement?
Self-adhesive resin cements (RelyX U200, Maxcem Elite, G-CEM One) are applied without a separate adhesive. Adhesive cements such as Variolink Esthetic are used together with an adhesive system, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Do you have glass ionomers in capsules?
Yes: GC Fuji II LC, GC Fuji IX and EQUIA Forte HT for restorations and GC Fuji Plus for cementation, all in boxes of 50 capsules.
Which fluoride varnishes are available?
Profluorid Varnish (VOCO), with 5% sodium fluoride, in single doses with several flavours, including the BioMin version, and 3M Clinpro Clear Fluoride Treatment.
